š¢ Recruitment Trends 2025: What you Need to Know
As we step into 2025, recruitment trends are shifting, and businesses need to stay ahead of the curve to secure the best talent. The past year has been about stability rather than rapid growth, but the outlook for 2025 is optimistic, with job seekers and employers alike looking forward to fresh opportunities.
Based on insights from the latest UK Salary Trends Report, here are the key takeaways that will shape recruitment this yearāespecially for office roles in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.
š 1. A Competitive Job Market: More People on the Move
The report highlights that 31% of UK workers are planning to change jobs in 2025. Whatās driving this?
Higher salaries remain the top motivator, with 72% of candidates prioritising pay when considering new roles.
However, itās not just about moneyā66% of employees say theyād trade a pay rise for flexible working options.
Pay transparency matters: 74% of job seekers wonāt apply for roles that donāt disclose salary details.
What this means for businesses:
If youāre hiring, itās crucial to be competitive with salaries and upfront about pay in job adverts. Candidates expect clear progression paths and are drawn to hybrid or flexible work models.
š 2. Salaries in Office-Based Roles: Where Do You Stand?
With wage pressures continuing into 2025, office-based roles have seen steady salary increases. Hereās a snapshot of whatās happening in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire:
Administrators: £25,016 - £26,232
HR Advisors: £34,203 - £37,201
Finance Managers: £48,813 - £53,905
Customer Service Advisors: £25,339 - £27,714
What this means for businesses:
Employers need to ensure salaries are in line with regional expectations to remain attractive in a competitive market. Offering benefits like training, career development, and work-life balance can help offset salary concerns.
š¼ 3. Skills Gaps & Talent Shortages
The recruitment landscape remains challenging for hiring managers. Businesses continue to struggle with skills shortages, particularly in areas like HR, Customer Service, and Finance.
What this means for businesses:
Rather than waiting for the perfect candidate, employers should consider upskilling internal talent or hiring based on potential rather than just experience.
š® 4. Recruitment in 2025: What to Expect
š¹ Fewer job ads, but stronger demand for high-quality candidates.
š¹ Temp-to-perm placements on the rise as businesses test new hires before committing.
š¹ Stronger employer branding: Companies need to stand out by showcasing their culture, values, and benefits.

š§ The Changing Attitudes of Candidates ā And How I Became a "Complete Doyle"
Recruitment is full of surprises. Youād think, after 24 years in the business, Iād have seen it allābut every now and then, a candidate throws me a curveball.
Take this recent exchange. I was chatting with a customer service candidate, and the conversation was going well. They had solid experience, but not in the sector my client worked within. So, after a pleasant and professional 15-minute chat, I asked what I thought was a reasonable follow-up question:
"Is there anything else that demonstrates your ability to pick up the practical side of the roleāperhaps experience with components or hobbies that could make your CV more appealing to the client?"
Now, youād think this was a fair question, right? After all, I wasnāt asking for a blood sample or their childhood petās name, just a little extra insight to strengthen their case for the role. But instead of answering, the candidate took offense and proceeded to call me a ācomplete Doyle.ā
Now, Iād never been called a Doyle before. In fact, I had to Google it. After five minutes of research (and a little chuckle), I moved on to the next candidate, a little wiserāand apparently, a little more Doyle-ishāthan before.
š¤ Why Are Some Candidates Reacting This Way?
This got me thinking. Why would a candidate take offense to being asked about their skills and suitability for a role they applied for? After speaking to other candidates and fellow recruiters, I might have an answer:
š Some recruiters donāt actually interview candidates properly.
Yes, you heard that right. Instead of a thorough, well-structured conversation, some recruiters simply run through a checklist:
ā
Where do you live?
ā
Can you drive?
ā
What salary are you looking for?
ā
Great! Your CV is on its way to the client.
The problem? Thatās not recruitment. Itās speed dating.
At Brellis Recruitment, we actually interview people. We dig into their experience, motivations, and career aspirationsānot just the bullet points on their CV. We have integrity, and we want our clients to get real value from the candidates we put forward.
ā Have You Noticed the Same?
This experience left me wonderingāhave you noticed a shift in attitudes? Have you encountered candidates reluctant to be properly interviewed?
One thingās for sure: at Brellis, we wonāt change our approach. Our clients deserve candidates who have been properly vetted, and our candidates deserve the right roles, not just the fastest placement.
And as for me? Well, Iāll try my best not to be too much of a Doyle. š
